Having grown up in Reno and calling Northern Nevada home since I was a child, I know what a great place this is to live. I have attended great schools here, I have made lifelong friends here, and most importantly I have been shaped into the person I am today by this community. Having spent several years working on behalf of Nevadans at both the state and federal level, I have become alarmed by the slow pace at which our government functions and responds to the problems we are facing in our state. By running for a seat on the Washoe County Commission I intend to make our local government more efficient, provide a higher level of service to our citizens, and bring back some much needed accountability to the commission. The economic obstacles we currently face demand solutions that are real and permanent, not just a temporary fix to see us through the current budget cycle. With your support I will bring a big picture perspective to the commission and do what is right for the long term growth of Northern Nevada.
In order to give our kids good schools, maintain beautiful parks, and fund much needed public works projects, we need to revitalize our economy. Attracting new businesses to the area and sparking job growth will be my top priority. Providing incentives for business growth, developing our area’s natural resources, and capitalizing on the assets already here is the way to accomplish this. By tapping into our entrepreneurial spirit and aggressively developing the vast amount of renewable energy located in Northern Nevada we can transform our local economy into a global leader in energy production and technological innovation. We can no longer afford to be dependent on a single industry for our revenue; it is time to diversify and embrace the growth of new businesses.
How many of us can actually name the members of the county commission? How many of us can actually think of something good done by the commission? How many of us automatically think of the government when we think of wasteful spending or the subversion of property rights? I am seeking to change this. By working together we can achieve great things for our state and make this an even better place to live. Today we find ourselves at a crossroads and I am working for your vote to help steer us on the right path to prosperity. I am running to bring about a new way forward for Nevada.
